When most people think of jobs in the entertainment industry, they think of acting. Actors are on the big screen and typically get more attention than those behind the scenes. However, there are a myriad of career opportunities in show biz apart from acting. If you are looking to work in Hollywood, here are some other jobs to consider.

Writer:

There are many different types of writing jobs out there. Oftentimes, novels get turned into television shows or movies. The author that wrote the book isn’t usually the one to write the script. Sitcoms require writers who are also comedians. If you think you might be interested in writing, find your niche and go from there.

Producer:

Producers help oversee the entire movie production. They work closely with everyone on set to make sure things run smoothly. A producer, such as Heather Parry, typically works on a project from start to finish and needs to be good at multitasking. There are many different types of producers, but the head one is called an executive producer.

Director:

While actors usually get the most attention, there are many well-known directors out there. They each usually have a unique, recognizable style. Before shooting begins, they help choose cast members, and they then work closely with the actors and direct them during production. If you are interested in directing, consider getting an internship. This is a great way to see what the job looks like from the inside. It will also help you build connections and develop your skills.

If you aren’t sure which one is right for you, consider talking to people who have worked in the industry to get their opinion. Take classes and find out what you like and what you are good at. After all, you want to make a career of this, so don’t rush into anything.
