Review of Chhota Bheem: Kung Fu Dhamaka:

The biggest relief is that despite being an Indian IP content in the genre of 3D Stereoscopy movie, the quality of Animation is of very high quality. Complex action sequences are not compromised through camera cuts or motion blur shots. Kudos to entire technical and creative team of Green Gold Animation and Golden Robot Animation Studio for it. Background details are very well maintained with help of 2D matte paintings and 3D sceneries, as per the requirements. Beautiful visuals keeps you engage in the movie. Music is also catchy and make kids humming on it. In nutshell, it is an amazing cinematic experience. It all sum up with smooth animation, detailed facial expressions, visually stunning and beautiful renders, very well balanced color schemes and overall a fun filled cinema experience. The movie will be remembered as one of the best Indian Animation movies.

As mentioned earlier, the biggest USP of Chhota Bheem: Kung Fu Dhamaka is its emotional content and moral values. It is completely fun oriented and kids friendly movie. We will like to see more animation movies of Chhota Bheem and his team. The fun filled adventures of laddu loving Chhota Bheem should continue to woo upcoming generations.

The only minus point is the duration of the movie. After defining all the characteristics and reveling the storyline, the movie is dragged without any obvious reasons. Even the narrative format becomes easy to guess after the second half.

Virtual Production and Motion capture technology used in Chhota Bheem movie:

Apart from fun and adventure animation movie, this 3D stereoscopy movie is strong on technology front. For the anthem song titled ‘Kung Fu Dhamaka’, they used motion capture technology to shoot dancing sequence. Moreover, this title track is sung by king of Punjabi pop music, Daler Mehndi and composed by Sunil Kaushik. The song depicts what Chhota Bheem is all about, his affection to friends and will to fight against evil to save everyone. The peppy music is completely sync with Bheem’s energy and enthusiasm. Daler Mehandi’s daughter Rabaab is also featured in the video song.

For the shooting of the title track ‘Kung Fu Dhamaka’, virtual production technology was adopted by the technical team of Green Gold Animation. The dancers performed in chroma background, their choreography was recorded through high-end motion capture device and was applied to CG characters. Live action actors (Daler Mehndi, kids and other dancers) are part of final output of final music video. The overall animation was fine tuned by specialists animators with required manual key frame animation and composed with virtual 3D set.

This mammoth task was executed at Famous Studios, in collaboration with Centroid Motion Capture India, the highest quality motion capture service provider company. With the mocap work of four hours, Centroid India has delivered motion captured animation data for 9 CG characters. In just 2 days, they executed output delivery of 14+ minutes.

The final output of title track video is beautiful integration of live action video of Daler Mehndi with CG characters of Chhota Bheem and his team. Kids loved this visual treat of Bhangra dancing in the virtual set. It is first of its kind experience for Indian Animation Industry. It has set a new benchmark in filmmaking for animated films in India.
