Calling all 3D creative artists. Autodesk has joined forces with Disney and Lucasfilm to launch an unique Droid Design Contest. In this month long competition, the Autodesk challenge is to design your dream droid with to celebrate Star Wars Day, 4th May.

This creative contest is for all Star Wars fanatics and design enthusiasts. It’s time to showcase your creativity. The possibilities are endless, you can create you own version of Star Wars droid as per your idea / story plot. All the much needed details are as follows. 

Guidelines of Droid Design Contest

Please read it carefully and adhere to it. It will help you to avoid rejections of Autodesk droid making contest. 

Purpose of this 3D challenge

The Acolyte is the latest Star Wars Original Series. As the legacy continues, it has many new designs of the distant worlds, creatures and droids. The most notable debut droid is Pip: a chipper. It is created by Neal Scanlan.

Disney and Lucasfilm gives you chance to make something bigger like this. Let your imagination fly and create an awesome droid which can fit the galaxy of Star Wars.

Duration

  • Start date: 4th May 2024
  • End date: 4th June 2024

Who can participate in this Autodesk challenge?

  • You must be above 18 years old.
  • You must be US legal residents.
  • You can submit only one entry.

Which softwares can be used?

To create your own droid design, you’ll need to use Autodesk’s design programs.

  • Maya
  • 3ds Max
  • Fusion 360

Judging criteria for Star Wars droid making contest

  • Technical aptitude (25%)
  • Ingenuity and creativity (25%) 
  • Star Wars relevance (25%) 
  • Quality of presentation (25%)

Prize

  • The winner droid design will be fabricated and it will be placed at Lucasfilm in San Francisco. The 3D printed version will be showcased at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.
  • Airfare for two people to San Francisco and two nights hotel stay will be provided.
  • A VIP tour to the above mentioned studio locations.
  • And many more.
