Ted worked on the position of Animation Director of the said movie. A rebellious shapeshifter, Nimona, joins a disgraced knight, Ballister Boldheart, to challenge the king. It follows the classical good vs. evil concept, but in a very refreshing and energetic form of stylized art and animation. The dynamics of Nimona and Ballister takes the movie in to a great heights.

Why Nimona is one of the best Netflix Animation movies?
One of the first noticeable thing is the 2D treatment of the 3D movie. Ty has beautifully crafted this Art of Animation with his wealth of experience from his early credentials including Kung Fu Panda, Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, Lion King and How to Train Your Dragon 2.
He put emphasis on visual storytelling and emotions rather than relying on computer generated in-between keyframes. It was a huge mission of Ted and his DNEG team of animators to pull off such gigantic work. There are moments in the Nimona movie where characters are still and yet it conveys the Director’s message to the audience.
The DNEG animation team made a proper mix of sci-fi fantasy with one of the most beautiful animation moments. The vibrant colors of landscape and and fluid motion create a visually captivating experience for all age groups. Chloe Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed delivered fantastic performances that breathe life into their characters. Apart from these, this Netflix animated movie also deals with solid issues of prejudice and discrimination.
Overall Nimona is praised for originality, emotional appeal and a fantastic art of animation.

Ted will showcase the Animation style guide and pipeline, created specially for Nimona movie. To talk on technical details, Foundry’s Katana has been used for look dev and lighting of Nimona. Katana streamlined the entire pipeline for consistent stylized art look of the movie. It saves a lot of production hours where an artist needs to setup and fine-tune the lighting for each scene. Katana made possible to handle complex scenes and large datasets. From environments to effects, it rendered the scenes seamlessly.
