The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly brought about numerous changes to our day-to-day lives. We see how isolation has affected our routines, habits, livelihoods, mental health, social interaction, and career choices. Pursuing new creative ideas amid a health crisis has gone rise by this time.
Despite these difficult and trying times, there’s something to be said about how most of us continue to strive to adapt, evolve, and be resilient. The time when we fight back against adversity is when creativity kicks in. A trend that we’re continuing to see is how the pandemic’s difficulties and isolation have resulted in a surplus of imagination.
Whether it’s trying out a hobby that you’ve been interested in a long time but never got around to trying, like painting, knitting, baking, making music, discovering your hidden talents, finding your inner passion, and reassessing yourself and what you want to accomplish. Some may even consider this to be the time to reinvent themselves, restructure, and make a breakthrough in the form of a new path in life.
Pursuing more creative avenues in such unsure times may seem like a leap of faith, but another way to look at it would be to see that every day is a new opportunity to feed and nourish your creative side. The urge to find activities that benefit us financially and holistically as individuals has never been stronger. With a new and reinvigorated zest for life, we move into the new normal, craving more creative pursuits.
Creative writing
Since almost all of us are still working from home, the use of the internet remains at its peak. People are finding ways to work that utilize a newer, more modern, and innovative way of doing things. One great example is creative writing, like journalism, fiction, storytelling, screenwriting, playwriting, blogs, short stories, poetry.
Technically, any form of writing that one composes initially may be considered creative writing. Still, its approach is much more personalized, loose, and goes outside the norms of formal writing. This is where one’s imagination can run wild, and self-expression becomes a key factor.
Its purpose is mainly to connect to an audience, share experiences, entertain, inspire, relive, reflect, and many more. It taps in our emotions and encounters as human beings and what it feels like to be alive. The isolation resulted in a lot of people becoming more in tune with their inner thoughts and feelings. A louder and creative inner voice that demands expression arose.
New media experience
Another form of creativity that came up during this pandemic is seen in new media and how we consume it. By definition, new media is considered any form of mass communication means that uses digital technologies. It may be via newspaper articles, emails, music, streaming apps, video production, graphic design, marketing, and other new and emerging methods that can be communicated digitally.
Media maintains its reputation as a vast industry, which is still continuously growing at a fast and steady pace. The creativity that we’ve developed to keep up and stand out during this era of media that delivers everything at the click of a button is extraordinary.
New ways of transforming traditional concepts such as art, film, and music have emerged. Experts for concept photography, digital media, online streaming platforms, and interactive media experiences have come forward to help you connect with your audience in a more profound and impactful way.
Fashion statements
Expressive fashion is another way our creativity is emerging during this time. This provides methods for making expressive visual statements about themselves boldly and fashionably. Revealing how one carries themselves can define one’s character, tastes, disposition, status, gender preferences, cultural backgrounds, and what one stands for or believes in.
Fashion defines a specific individual and can be seen as a way to represent your belonging to a group, becoming a part of a cause, or joining a movement. This is also where the famous saying goes, “make a fashion statement,” comes in. It is all about spontaneity, artistry, inventiveness, and a form of originality.
We are reinventing ourselves and letting the whole world in to see. Our fashion preferences have evolved as we spent more time indoors, less concerned about how others would perceive us and more concerned with how we wanted to present ourselves.
Creativity is a never-ending resource, but it takes the right spark to ignite this side of yours. Numerous industries involving creativity and imagination find that individuals have shifted from what some would consider more traditional jobs. These people have focused on passions that better served what they thought to a better cause.
