Mocha Pro 2024, the latest version of Boris FX’s planar tracking software, introduces significant updates and features. In August 2023, Boris FX acquired SynthEyes. So, this new release of Mocha Pro includes a revamped 3DCamera Solve module powered by SynthEyes’ advanced technology. It will increase 3D tracking capabilities within the Mocha interface only. Due to the inbuilt 3D viewer mode, the tracking artist don’t need to export the solution, it can be viewed in Mocha itself. The tracking artist don’t need to between multiple softwares, so there is no data loss here.
Such integration allows for robust camera solves combined with Mocha Pro’s planar tracking tools, offering improved flexibility and accuracy in tracking tasks.
A fully integrated planar tracking software
One of the major key features of Mocha Pro 2024 in the native support to USD (Universal Scene Description). Using USD pipeline, you can import 3D models to create replica of the 3D scene inside Mocha. Simultaneously, the USD data can also be exported to other industry standard CGI and VFX softwares including Nuke, Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Houdini and Cinema 4D. This seamless data exchange increases an overall efficiency of the post production pipeline.
The new pipeline supports FBX format as well. It can also export nulls to After Effects. In a nutshell, such compatibility will enhance the VFX workflow. An artist can accurately do the object placement inside the tracking solution.
Mocha was already coined as an industry standard planar tracking software to tackle any complex scenes. Now, after integration of SynthEyes, it has become a comprehensive solution for 3D tracking and matchmoving pipeline.
Improved performance
Integration of SynthEyes has opened up new avenues to improve the current tracking and rotoscoping workflow. Mocha Pro 2024 will provide the pipeline of stepped tracking, including Linear and Constant keyframe options. Extrapolate Track option will sustain the tracking flow even if track object gets hidden or goes out of scene. The algorithm will extract tracking data goes from previous frames. New new version of Mocha has robust camera solve process which can also deal with complex shots having occlusions or reflections.
As per claims of Boris FX, Mocha Pro 2024 will give faster rendering (up to 15x). In the script editor, Python scrips will also run 6x faster. All these improvements will streamline the tracking and rotoscoping processes. So, the artist can focus more on productivity.
