Structured Cabling for effective Information Technology and Telecommunications

Structured Cabling for effective IT and Telecommunications

Any successful business owner will tell you that they put their success down to their ability to be able to communicate with internal staff and customers at any given time. It is important that decisions are easily disseminated and that customers can receive the information that they need and receive the assurances that they require as well.

It is also incredibly important to make sure that you have a sound IT platform that can provide you with everything that you need to run a modern business. There is a well known saying that a leopard never changes its spots and this applies to people who have been in business for many years and who trust the system that they currently use.

The thing about using the old style cabling network for your communications and information technology is that the whole system is kind of set up to fail and if you ever want to update it, it can be a real nightmare because you have a myriad of cables running all over your office and the technician has really no idea how to distinguish one from another. It would be a time intensive experience and all of that could have been avoided if you had just installed efficient and time-saving structured cabling.

If you are the business manager or indeed the owner, then it should be your goal to help to keep all of your costs down and have a system in place that allows you to be more efficient and more effective. If you are still not sold on the benefits of a structured cabling system then maybe the following can help you to make a smarter business decision.

It is more cost effective

As mentioned briefly before, if you were using the old style cabling system then when you need to update your system and business IT structure or you need to address an ongoing problem and it is incredibly difficult for your technician to be able to identify what wire goes where and so it is going to take a lot more time to figure out your problems. Time is money as they say and so it is going to cost you a lot more to get this problem fixed and it could all be avoided if you had just installed structured cabling.

Less downtime

Following on from the point that was made before, if the technician is finding it incredibly difficult to identify the cable that is causing the problem then it’s likely that your systems are going to be off-line for the duration that it takes to find out how to fix the problem. No business can afford to have any downtime at all because for every hour that you are unable to do business, it is costing you money and losing customers.

In order for any business to be successful it needs to be more organized and it needs to be more efficient and structured cabling helps you to do both of these things. It may cost a little bit of extra money to have such a system installed, but if you want to add to it after that or you want to make any upgrades then it is so much easier and it can be done in a fraction of the time.
