This specific 3D challenge focuses into the world of steampunk, a genre that blends Victorian-era aesthetics with steam-powered machinery and retro-futuristic designs. By exploring alternate histories and creating visually appealing creative, artist need to follow these steps.

  1. Modeling and texturing a steampunk vehicle
  2. Integrate it into a respective 3D environment
  3. Produce high-quality render

Judging criteria

Participants are encouraged to pay meticulous attention to detail, realistic textures, and mechanisms of steam engineering era to bring their creations to life within a steampunk universe. The judging criteria emphasize on these technical parameters.

  • Originality of the concept
  • Quality of 3D modeling, texturing, CGI environment and composition
  • Overall presentation of the scene

Judges will be looking for technical proficiency and a storytelling that is narrated by the final 3D render. If you are a movie buff, it’s time to revisit the Mad Max series. You will get a lots of ideas from here.

End date: 5th June, 2024 by 15.00 GMT (Kindly convert it as per your timezone accordingly)

Major rules of this 3D Modeling Competition

Please go through it properly. Failing to follow it, will result in disqualification. 

  • Artists must create original works specifically for the contest.
  • Avoiding the use of existing projects or stock/free models.
  • Submission requirements include providing a work-in-progress (WIP) link to demonstrate authorship and showcasing both a final render and a clay/wireframe render of the scene.
  • Entries without a WIP will not be accepted, highlighting the importance of showcasing the modeling process.
  • Use of a matte painting as an environment is not allowed.
  • You can enhance your 3D render in post production. But, doing so, must not kill the essence of your 3D work.
  • Also submit a short story that describes your thoughts behind the entire composition. 
  • You can work in any genre (toony, realistic, sci-fi etc.).
