Hugo Guerra is an award-winning Director, VFX Supervisor and trainer. Started as a freelancer, he has worked in various technical job roles including Head of Nuke compositing, VFX trainer and lecturer, lead senior compositor and many more. Having huge practical experience and knowledge of Visual Effects industry, currently he is on the position of Cinematic Director and VFX Supervisor at Fire Without Smoke, an agency specialized in Video Games marketing.
He has worked in many renowned VFX studios including The Mill, BBC, Nexus Productions, JellyFish Pictures, Atomic Arts to name a few. In the gaming arena, Hugo has directed and supervised trailers for Activision, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Sony, Deep Silver, CCP, FatShark and many more. He is also a member of the Visual Effects Society and part of the advisory board for both, the NFTS and the Norwich Art School.
To share his wealth of knowledge to aspiring and experienced Visual Effects artists, he launched Hugo’s Desk, his own YouTube channel to share videos and tutorials about VFX, Compositing, Nuke, Photography, Technology, Film-making, and Video Games. He has recorded and published tons of quality learning video tutorials explaining pre production, concepts, storyboards, matte painting, production and post production pipeline, industry standard tips and tricks for better finishing, how to reduce production time, rendering, z depth, how to use stock footages, behind the scenes / making of, deconstruction of shots and many more related topics.
