SideFX has announced Houdini contest named ‘Marvelous Machines’. Apart from SideFX itself; winning prizes are from Dell, AMD and Intel.
As the name suggests, the Houdini contest is based on creating the machinery you love. It can range from any category to any size, real life or your imagination. Various criteria of ‘Marvelous Machines’ contest is given below briefly.
Contest Duration:
- 4th October 2016 to 31st January 2017
Output to be submitted:
- It can be single render image (still frame), single animation sequence or continuous sequence of moving machines.
- Any file type can be submitted.
- Any resolution can be used for still image or video output.
- You can export external file formats. But, it will be much more better to do all in Houdini.
Softwares:
- Use Houdini and Mantra from SideFX.
- Apart from texture maps, you can also use Principled Shader and VOPs from Mantra.
- You can use Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects for compositing. But, as indicated earlier also, it will be better to rely on Houdini only for the final output.
Participation:
- It can be individual or group.
- Solo entries are preferred, as the prize distribution in group artists can be difficult.
